Love, Untrapped From “I” & “You”

Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri expounds on the true nature of supreme love. Most people are familiar with attachment, which can quickly turn to aversion, but true love is different. It’s a love without duality, where two become one, and it’s not an emotion that comes and goes. This supreme love is undying, without cause or reason, and transcends the mundane world of likes and dislikes. It’s a love that dissolves the ego and merges with the infinite, as seen in the poem by Mīrābai. As Amma says, “We are formless love — the embodiment of love,” and this love is beyond human intellect and calculation, a pure awareness that is the very nature of existence.

Rectifying Our Identity Crisis

Swami Amritaswarupananda explains how we often mistake our true selves for our job, status, or education. Inspired by the teachings of spiritual leaders such as Amma and Śrī Śaṅkara, Swamiji suggests that recognizing our real, divine nature can free us from fear and stress. Embark on an exciting journey from just being a body to discovering your soul, moving from a life shadowed by fear to a life full of courage, peace, and unchanging happiness – the authentic you!

Spiritual Changes for the Pandemic & Beyond

As COVID-19 has prompted us to reflect on our attitudes and actions, we must remember the lessons from past eye-openers and strive to keep the resolutions we make. Swami Amritaswarupananda encourages us to remember nine principles if we wish to make lasting changes to our habits. If we can keep these resolutions alive, we will attain both external and internal wealth, and embrace the vision that the world and God are one.

The festival is not only important for spiritual aspirants, but also for those leading a worldly life. It teaches us to invoke the power within us and to have a loving and forgiving attitude towards God, just like a child with their mother. Why Yoga in the Outdoors Really Helps You Reconvene with Nature

Practicing yoga outdoors helps combat the modern nature deficit disorder, bringing about a renewed appreciation for our environment. Doing asanas in nature not only reduces depression but also enhances our emotional well-being, leading to improved relationships with others through more patience and compassion. We can do this even in urban settings by adding a plant or incorporating natural elements into our yoga space.

“The purpose of yoga is for our inner well-being. It does not belong to any particular faith or religion. It was passed on to us by the ancient seers for the well-being of humanity. Yoga helps us to reconnect with nature and eventually become one with God.”

Amma explains Yoga

"The meaning of the word yoga is 'coming together' or 'joining'.” Yoga unites our body, breath, mind, and awareness in the proper way. If we can control our bodies, we will be able to control our breath. If we can control our breath, we will be able to control our minds. If we can control the mind, we will be able to rise to Self-realization."
