Yoga is not like an ordinary physical exercise routine that you practice for one or two hours a day. It is a comprehensive way of life that gives a high level of importance to dharmic values and principles.

Integrative Wellness: Asana, Pranayama, Ayurveda

Focus

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, is naturally complementary to Yoga—which is not to say that one modality of healing fits all. We shall focus on how combining Ayurvedic and Yogic principles can catalyze a complete physical, mental, and spiritual transformation.

Workshop Specifics

  • A typical day includes two yogasana classes, a meditation session, a talk on Ayurvedic principles, and an ayurvedic meal at the School of Ayurveda.
  • All asana classes and lectures will be at Amritapuri, the headquarters of MA Math.
  • Our focus will be on breathing techniques, balancing Yogic and Ayurvedic energies, and determining the best asana sequence for you.
  • A short tour of the Amrita School of Ayurveda.

Ayurvedic Talks will include

  • Discovering how one’s personality, physical and mental constitution can be a starting point in the journey of self-transformation.
  • How to customize your lifestyle, diet, and yoga practices based on your ayurvedic constitution.
  • Guidelines on daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior, and self-discipline.

    Why Integrative Wellness?

Integrative wellness is an informed lifestyle drawing upon those practices found in any tradition, ancient or modern, proven to be most conducive to physical, mental, and spiritual health.

    Vidya from India

“The talk on Ayurveda by Dr. Ram Manohar was a real eyeopener. It gave great insight on how to live a healthy life with spiritual values, understanding body and mind, and overcoming weaknesses and shortcomings. Though an Indian, it was insightful to understand and deepen my knowledge about ancient India’s practices of yoga and Ayurveda and the innate connection between the two.  I hope to attend more retreats on this topic. Thank you so much for your wisdom and valuable time, Brahmacharini ShobhaJi and Dr. Ram Manohar!” – Vidya, Age 47

“The retreat was a great introduction to the connections between Ayurveda and Yoga. Dr. Ram was inspiring – I was deeply impressed by his profound knowledge – and ShobhaJi’s yoga classes demonstrated what we had learned through Ayurveda. “I felt a great calm and joy throughout the asana classes and the Ayurvedic lectures, as both teachers conveyed so much love for what they were doing. I learned so much about building a sequence for my body constitution and keeping it adaptable, even to such things as time, place, the weather and the variable status of the day. I just loved Dr Ram’s lectures. They really made me aware of how precious my body is and the importance of diet.

Just simply, thank you!” – Alessandra, Age 52
