Chained to the Past
On this Promethean rock
I give you this satsang
I give you this talk
Carbon makes diamonds
Rough edges, they fray
Can the squeeze of my karma
Teach me a new way?
Distinguishing the good
from the pleasant
Loving all, despite sneers
Abstaining from temptation
Those empty promises cleared
To stretch, helping others
With love in your heart
To see your Self everywhere
As you take part
For you see, it is you
Bound on this stone
And the freedom is being
That you’re never alone.
The Samaritan that comes
In the anguish of night
Was you, all along,
Glowing with this inner light.
